In recent years, it’s been hard to ignore the resurgence of one of heavy metal’s often-criticized sub-genres.

- Sick New World is one of the most popular festivals of the year.
- Mudvayne and SOAD (sort of) have reunited.
- Korn, Linkin Park, and others have had successful anniversary releases of iconic albums.
- Sharon Osborne has mentioned the possibility of Ozzfest returning as a touring festival.
- Bands like Code Orange, Sylar, Cane Hill, and Bad Omens, among others, often find themselves compared more to nu-metal than their metalcore counterparts.
Even on Google Trends, you can see that in the last 5 years there’s been a gradual increase in interest.
I think it’s safe to say that nu-metal is starting to make a comeback and I think it’s a good time to mention bands that were often stuck in the shadows of bands like Korn, Bizkit, Slipknot, etc. This list is in no…
